What is Acupuncture? How does it work?Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine pins into specific locations on the body. This stimulates the body's responses including the nervous system and the circulatory system. The insertion of fine pins stimulates the body's natural healing responses. Acupuncture calms the nervous system and improves the flow of blood throughout the body.
How is treatment determined? Our Acupuncture Physician will perform a thorough evaluation on the first visit. This will determine the basis for treatment. Acupoint prescription and Herbal Prescription will be chosen based on the individual patient's current symptoms.
What does training entail for an Acupuncture Physician? In the United States a Master's Degree is required for Licensure. Typically this is an accelerated program of 3,000 or more hours including clinical training. For entry into a program a 2 year degree or equivalent is required. Students then complete their Bachelor's in Science and then a Master's in Science including clinical training - all in 3 years.
